To make golfing at Oakridge an enjoyable experience for everyone, the following rules of golf etiquette have been adopted. All persons using the golf course, including members, spouses or designees, children and guests are expected to comply with the rules of golf etiquette.
• Players shall comply with the USGA’s rules of golf etiquette. • Each player must have a set of golf clubs. • Yelling and the use of vulgar or profane language are prohibited. • Players may not throw clubs, abuse carts, hit tee markers with clubs or otherwise mistreat the golf facilities. • If a player plays a ball in a direction where there is a danger of hitting someone, the golfer should immediately shout a warning. The traditional word of warning in such situation is “fore.” • Players should be careful not to step on the intended line of other players’ putts. • Players may not intentionally hit golf balls from the fairway onto adjacent properties. • Players should not hit into the group ahead of them.
Players should play as quickly as possible while maintaining proper golf etiquette. All groups should complete an 18-hole round in 4 hours or less, and a 9-hole round in 2 hours or less. If players cannot maintain that pace, they should allow faster groups to play through or play at times when the course is not crowded and slower play will not delay others. Players should implement the following practices into their game to speed up their pace of play on the golf course: • Players should walk or ride to their balls, take their practice swings, and get ready to hit, while their playing partners are hitting. They should not wait in the cart or stand by their playing partner until he or she has hit before proceeding to the ball. • Players should expedite their pre-shot routine. • Players should play "ready golf" when possible and when agreed to by all playing partners, hitting the ball when ready, even if another player’s ball is farther away from the green. • If a player is unsure of whether his or her ball was hit out-of-bounds or is lost, a provisional ball should be hit. • Players shall not spend more than 3 minutes searching for a lost ball. If there are players behind a group which is looking for a ball, the group should allow the other players behind them to play through while the search for the lost ball continues. • Players should line up their putts while others in their group are putting. • After everyone in a group has putted-out on a green, players should replace the flag stick and quickly drive or walk to the next tee to record their scores.
• Unless you have obtained a "red flag" exemption, carts should be kept on cart paths around tees and greens. • Carts should be kept on all other cart paths as much as possible, particularly whenever adverse course conditions exist. • Please pay attention to the white capped posts in each fariway on all par 4’s and par 5’s. These white capped posts indicate the area from which cart traffic is not allowed. Exit all fairways at or before the posts. Note: Cart traffic is allowed in the rough adjacent to the posts, not on the fairway. If you proceed toward the green in the rough, exit in the same manner. Do not cut across the fairway in these areas. • Do not drive golf carts over curbed areas. • No more than two adults may ride in a golf cart at one time. • Avoid sharp turns and steep inclines. • Avoid all wet spots, newly planted areas, ground under repair, and roped off areas. • Obey all instructions printed on the golf cart.
• Repair all divots (use sand and seed bottles provided). • After playing a stroke from a bunker, smooth irregularities with the rake provided and place the rake outside of the bunker. • Deposit all refuse (e.g., broken tees, cigarette butts, cans, bottles, paper cups, wrappers) in trash receptacles. • Obey all directional indicators (e.g., signs, ropes, arrows, and white capped fairway posts).
• Repair all ball marks. • Do not place your golf bag or pull carts on the putting surface or fringes. • Do not remove the ball from the cup with a club (suction tips allowed). • Do not lean on clubs or drop them on the putting surface.
• Golfers are responsible for their practice balls that cause property or personal damage. • Avoid hitting range balls onto neighboring properties or onto the adjoining fairways. • Report hitting a ball onto neighboring properties to the pro shop. • Do not use a driver when hitting from the front half of the hitting area or if a south wind is blowing. • Range balls are not to be removed from the practice areas or taken onto the course. • Place broken tees and other litter in the trash receptacles provided.
• Putting and short chip and run style shots are allowed. • Do not place golf bags or pull carts on the putting surface. • Do not remove the ball from the cup with a club (suction tips allowed). • Do not lean on clubs or drop them on the putting surface.
• Pick up the balls off the green by hand. Do not hit balls off the green with a club or your foot. • Use ball rakes provided. • Repair divots in hitting area with sand and seed bottles provided on golf carts. • Remove golf balls from the sand bunker and rake the practice bunker when finished. • Repair ball marks with ball mark repair tools provided.
